Basic Table Mapping
Within this article we will provide step-by-step instructions on how to utilize our Data Mapper to map Basic data, using Flat Table - Header only (Example 1) and Dimension Table - Header and Dimension (Example 2). Before we begin, we recommend you download the Basic Table Mapping File, review FileBox uploading, and Data Mapper - User Manual. Doing so would ensure the best learning experience possible.
1. Flat Table - Header Only
Once Basic Table Mapping FileBox is created, you will click on and then select Data Mapper within the drop-down menu:
At which point a new tab will open asking you to create a table or use an existing table, as seen within Data Mapper - User Manual article. Upon creation or selection of a table, the following window will appear, asking you to select table type.
In this example, you will select Flat Table (1):
To add data to the Header section, you will complete the following steps:
- "Add Header"
2. Select A1-E1 - using your mouse or holding down the shift key.
Within the Header section, you now see selected column names and sample preview of how the data is being mapped in our DataBase. Column name's can be changed, without affecting original data.
Completion and publishing of our Flat Table is done by clicking on " Publish & Scan Latest Version"
Once selected you will get the following message:
2. Dimension Table
In this example, we will select the Dimension Table (2) and then map our table accordingly.
In addition to Header selection, we now have Dimensions section:
Just like we did above, we will select A1 - E1 in Header.
Addition of data in Dimension is done as follows:
- "Add Dimension"
2. Select F1-H1 - using your mouse or holding down the shift key.
As in the Header section, you can change the selected column name within Dimension and preview how data looks in our DataBase.
Completion and publishing of our Dimension Table are done by clicking on " Publish & Scan Latest Version", as was instructed above.
